The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vimt-No landed in 2025 as part of Lush's Perfume Library, the in-house collection where each fragrance marks a moment in the brand's history rather than chasing trends. The name is a wink at Vimto, the British berry-and-citrus soft drink that's been a cultural institution since 1902. The perfumers took that flavor memory, blackcurrant, lime, orange, and asked what it would feel like as a real fragrance rather than a novelty one. The result is a scent that borrows from something familiar but lives entirely on its own terms.
The key lime opens sharp and aromatic, a direct hit of citrus that makes the composition feel effervescent from the first second. French blackcurrant absolute is the heart here, not the fresh fruit, but the concentrated blackcurrant note that reads as unmistakably blackcurrant in any context. Davana oil from India adds another dimension: its own fruity, slightly wine-like character acts almost like a second berry note, deepening the impression of mouth-watering sweetness without tipping into confection. Brazilian orange oil keeps the citrus foundation from disappearing entirely, providing warmth rather than just brightness.
The evolution
The opening lands bright and tart. Key lime takes the lead for the first 15 to 30 minutes, that sharp citrus that makes the whole composition feel like it's sparkling. The Brazilian orange comes in underneath almost immediately, tempering the lime with something rounder. As the top recedes, the blackcurrant absolute takes over. This is where the fragrance becomes itself, that concentrated blackcurrant note fills the space the lime vacates, sweet and slightly tart and unmistakably berry. Davana threads through at the same time, adding its own herbal-fruity dimension to the berry impression. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its reputation. The lime and orange fade but the blackcurrant absolute doesn't, it deepens, taking on a richer, more resinous quality as it settles into the skin. The davana lingers too, a subtle herbal trace that extends the sweetness for several more hours. By the end, what remains is a warm, close-to-skin berry note that refuses to fully disappear.
Cultural impact
Vimt-No landed in 2025 as a limited-edition body spray that crossed over into fine fragrance territory. The Vimto association gave it instant cultural recognition in the UK, a flavor memory that wears as a real perfume. Community reviews describe it as a sparkling currant soda with a splash of lime that lifts the mood immediately, working across seasons with particular appeal in warmer months.
