Why it exists.
The beginning
Alexis. The name reads like a person. Someone named, perhaps, after one of its creators, or someone worth remembering. Emna Doghri and Alexis Bessy composed this in 2022, two perfumers building toward a single shared image. Powder, rose, vanilla, amber. The brief reads like a whispered confession. The official framing is even more direct: an amber perfume crowned by rose, opening on a breath of powder. A mixed perfume of character. That last word does most of the work. Character is what separates a fragrance from a pleasant ambient hum.
Four notes. That's the entire pyramid. Top, heart, base. Powder up top, rose and vanilla in the middle, amber holding down the foundation. No supporting cast. No clever layering of six citrus accords before the real performance begins. Just four materials doing everything they can. A soft, atmospheric opening gives way to a floral-gourmand heart where rose anchors the creaminess of vanilla, and an amber base that refuses to leave. The rose carries a slightly jammy sweetness at first, then dries down into something more candied as the vanilla rounds its edges.
The evolution
The powder leads. It doesn't announce itself so much as settle, like flour dust settling on a kitchen counter after the day's baking. Soft, dry, almost edible in the first fifteen minutes, though nothing about this reads as food. The transition is gradual, almost imperceptible. Rose arrives first, not as a headliner but as a breath underneath the powder, then vanilla folds in, and suddenly the composition warms. What was dusty becomes creamy.
