The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Junaid Perfumes was founded in 1910 in Bah rain, built on generations of expertise with natural agarwood, amber and rose. Araik emerged as the house's answer to a modern unisex desire for heritage-rich warmth, drawing on that century-old knowledge of natural materials. The perfumer knew that warmth comes not from heaviness but from balance: spice and sweetness, wood and cream, all working tog ether. This is a fragrance meant for someone who wants depth without complication, tradition without stuffiness.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy: cinnamon and tonka create immediate warmth at the opening, oak and vanilla build a substantial heart that justifies wearing time, and almond with sandalwood close the fragrance with creamy depth. This structure means Araik evolves throughout the day rather than disappearing after application. The pairing of almond and sandalwood in the drydown creates a nutty-creamy combination that feels sophisticated without being precious, appropriate for evening wear but not out of place during the day.
The evolution
The journey begins with cinnamon, bold and immediate, softened by tonka bean's sweet embrace within the first fifteen minutes. Oak arrives to ground the sweetness, its dry woodiness creating structure in the heart as vanilla weaves through, adding creamy warmth. As the fragrance settles into its final act, almond introduces a soft nuttiness that bridges the sweetness and the wood. Sandalwood takes over, smoothing everything into a lingering, creamy finish that stays close to the skin for hours.
Cultural impact
Araik has become a quiet favorite among collectors who appreciate Junaid’s blend of traditional oud with a modern unisex twist. Wearers note its suitability for evening gatherings and its ability to bridge classic Arabian warmth with a fresh, approachable vibe, placing it alongside the house’s other celebrated oud‑centric releases.
