The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Maroon Intense arrived in November 2022 to mark eleven years of Emirates Pride Perfumes. Rather than a conventional celebration release, the house chose to mark the milestone with something that spoke to what they and their customers had built together, a fragrance that could hold its own. Leather became the structural heart: not decorative, but load-bearing. The idea was strength that lasts, connection that doesn't fade. Vanilla opened the composition with warmth, patchouli grounded it in the earth, and oud settled underneath like a foundation. It was limited, as all meaningful things tend to be.
The vanilla here isn't the sugary kind. It's the kind that remembers where it came from, warm, slightly resinous, more brown than white. The leather is the whole point. It doesn't tiptoe into the composition; it walks in like it owns the room, taking up space, refusing to be background music. Patchouli anchors the middle with that signature earthy bitterness, the kind that reminds you something grew before it was harvested. And the oud underneath, dark, dense, almost tar-like in its depth, holds the whole thing together like a foundation that refuses to crack.
The evolution
The opening is pure warmth. Vanilla cream, sweet but not cloying, settling onto skin like something familiar. Then the patchouli arrives, earthy, a little bitter, cutting through the sweetness like a door opening onto dry air. Thirty minutes in and the leather makes itself known. Not politely. It's there, bold and unapologetic, taking over the conversation. The oud follows, deepening everything beneath it. The drydown is where this one earns its reputation. The vanilla doesn't disappear, it transforms, becoming part of the skin rather than something sitting on top of it. The leather softens slightly, more worn-in than fresh, and the oud takes over as the dominant voice. As the hours pass, the fragrance continues to evolve on the skin, each note finding its place within the composition rather than fighting for dominance.
Cultural impact
Maroon Intense occupies a specific space in the regional fragrance landscape, offering a bold oud and leather composition that speaks to those who appreciate unapologetic Orientals. The limited-edition status adds a collectibility layer that appeals to enthusiasts seeking something distinct from mainstream offerings. This fragrance stands as an expression of the brand's dedication to heritage ingredients and contemporary composition, a balance that defines the house's identity.
