The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Snow Angels emerged from Dawn Spencer Hurwitz's love of winter's quiet joy. In 2025 she set out to bottle the exuberant feeling of a sunny day when children carve angels in fresh powdery snow. Drawing on DSH Perfumes' Colorado-rooted, botanical-focused ethos, she paired the crispness of snow and hawthorn's frost-touched berries as an opening that feels both exhilarating and delicate. The heart centers on mimosa and rice, two ingredients that bridge winter's sharpness with spring's softness, capturing the transitional moment when cold begins to yield. The drydown settles into cashmeran's plushness and cookie dough's warmth, grounding the delicate opening in something tangible and comforting.
Dawn Spencer Hurwitz chose hawthorn and mimosa as a deliberate bridge between seasons. Hawthorn's frost-kissed berries echo winter's final days, while mimosa's powdery blossoms hint at approaching spring. The rice note adds unexpected warmth and texture, a grounding element that keeps the florals from feeling too delicate. Pairing cashmeran with cookie dough in the drydown reflects DSH Perfumes' philosophy of balancing abstraction with comfort: cashmeran brings a modern, skin-like softness, while cookie dough adds just enough edible warmth to make the fragrance feel like a memory rather than a concept. The result is a fragrance that honors both the clarity of snow and the coziness of a winter afternoon indoors.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with cold, crystalline snow and hawthorn's delicate tartness, the kind of opening that feels like stepping outside on a clear winter morning. As the top notes soften, mimosa blooms arrive with a powdery, honeyed quality while rice lends a starchy, grain-like warmth that evokes sunlit linens or fresh-baked rice cakes. The transition feels natural, like moving indoors from the cold. The drydown is where cashmeran and cookie dough take over, wrapping the earlier florals in a soft, edible embrace that lingers on skin for hours. Each layer builds on the last, creating a fragrance that moves from airy clarity to Intimate warmth to cozy softness.
Cultural impact
Snow Angels arrived at a moment when the perfume world was seeking a balance between crisp winter freshness and comforting gourmand warmth. Its snow and hawthorn top notes echo the clean, crystalline aesthetic popular in early 2020s minimalistic design, while the heart of mimosa and white rice adds a subtle botanical nuance that resonates with eco‑conscious consumers. The cashmeran‑cookie base bridges the gap between traditional winter scents and modern gourmand trends, reflecting a cultural shift toward scents that feel both nostalgic and contemporary. By integrating a unisex approach, the fragrance also mirrors the growing demand for gender‑neutral perfumery, making it a cultural touchstone for inclusive fragrance narratives.
