Heritage
A house, in its own words
Colish was born in Karachi in 2021, founded by two fragrance devotees who saw a gap in Pakistan's perfume landscape. The local market was dominated by international designer houses and traditional attar vendors, but the niche perfumery category, the world of smaller, independent brands focused on artistic composition and unconventional scent profiles, had barely registered. The couple set out to fill that void, building the brand from scratch and launching their first fragrances that same year. Among those early releases were Absolute Santal, Retro Rose, Khizan, and Amber Saffron, a quartet that immediately signaled the breadth of Colish's creative range, from woody and creamy to floral and spiced. The brand grew steadily through 2023 and 2024, adding compositions like Aurum, Black Mojo, Queen of Hearts, and Tribal Leather to the lineup. In 2025, Colish expanded further with Wadi and Bera Extrait de Parfum, signaling a deeper investment in higher-concentration extrait formats. That same period brought the opening of the Colish Flagship Boutique on Ittehad Commercial Lane in DHA Phase 6, Karachi, a space that combined fragrance retail with a café concept, a notably uncommon move for a young South Asian perfume house. While international press coverage remains limited, the brand's catalog growth and physical retail expansion suggest sustained momentum within Pakistan's independent fragrance scene. Colish describes its creative direction as a contemporary interpretation of South Asian sensory culture, drawing on the region's deep traditions of fragrance use, from attar and oud to incense and floral waters, while applying modern perfumery techniques. The brand's founders have spoken publicly about their belief that Pakistani consumers deserved access to the same caliber of niche, story-driven compositions available in Paris, Dubai, or London. Rather than chasing global trends, Colish tends to anchor its fragrances in locally resonant themes: seasons, landscapes, cultural references, and emotional states. The brand's launch portfolio reflected this sensibility from the outset. Khizan, for instance, references the Urdu term for autumn, while Amber Saffron and Tribal Leather lean into ingredients with deep resonance across South Asian and Middle Eastern fragrance traditions. Colish has also emphasized accessibility, aiming to offer niche-quality perfumery at price points that feel approachable within the Pakistani market, rather than positioning exclusively as a luxury import substitute. The founders have framed their work as a long-term cultural project, not just a commercial venture, with each release intended to add a new chapter to the brand's evolving olfactory narrative.
