The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Inspired by the marsh marigold, a bright yellow bloom that rises above murky waters, resilient and luminous. Burberry's Signatures line translates fragments of the house's identity into scent, and Golden Haze captures that tension: the raw power of the elements meeting the delicacy of a flower. The 2025 release brings osmanthus absolute into dialogue with smoky tea, letting something unexpected emerge from a familiar palette.
The combination of osmanthus and vetiver is what makes this work. Osmanthus absolute carries an apricot-like sweetness with subtle leather undertones, not a note you encounter every day. Vetiver brings earthy warmth and a hint of smoke. Together they create a drydown that feels intimate, sophisticated, and closer to the skin than the opening suggested.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and green, orange blossom absolute and marigold announce themselves clearly, then the marigold fades first. Within minutes the tea steps forward, slightly smoky, tempering the sweetness. The osmanthus takes its time arriving, but when it does, it changes the conversation, apricot-floral with an unexpected leather quality underneath. Vetiver is the last to settle, earthy and warm, pulling everything toward the skin. On most people the drydown lasts through the afternoon before the vetiver fades to something quieter by evening.
Cultural impact
Golden Haze arrived in 2025 as part of Burberry's Signatures collection, representing the brand's continued exploration of botanical themes. It's become a signature piece for those who want something modern but rooted in heritage, a refined choice that stands apart from louder, more commercial fragrances. The release taps into a growing appreciation for sophisticated, nature-inspired scents among discerning fragrance collectors.
