The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
My Cherry belongs to Adyan's Tropical Delights series, a collection built around the idea that tropical fruits deserve more than one dimension. The brief was simple: take cherry, the most flirtatious fruit in perfumery, and don't let it coast on novelty alone. Coconut widens the opening, pushing the composition toward something sunnier, more expansive. But the real work happens after that first impression fades.
What makes this pyramid interesting is the hand-off between phases. Cherry and coconut arrive bright and immediately tropical, but the structure beneath them, cinnamon, vanilla, rose, belongs to a warmer tradition. The drydown compounds that shift: almond and tonka introduce a powdery sweetness that feels almost nostalgic, a callback to the great warm Oriental bases without the weight. It's the scent of a fruit that grew up.
The evolution
Cherry and coconut hit first, bright, playful, the kind of opening that makes people smile before they know why. Within minutes, the heart begins to assert itself. Cinnamon arrives on the edges, warming the composition. Vanilla fills the middle, soft and enveloping. Rose keeps the transition graceful, preventing any jarring shift from fruit to spice. By the mid-stage, the drydown takes over. Almond and tonka become the dominant conversation, with musky undertones that keep the sweetness grounded rather than airy. The final form is intimate, powdery, close to the skin, the kind of scent you find on your wrist hours later and wonder where the time went.
Cultural impact
My Cherry by Adyan by Anfar reflects a broader shift toward accessible luxury in the fragrance market, where regional perfume houses create high-quality compositions at approachable price points. The 2024 launch arrived during a period when consumers increasingly sought out niche and independent brands over established luxury houses, valuing uniqueness and storytelling over prestige alone. The Tropical Delights collection positioned My Cherry as part of a deliberate strategy to appeal to younger fragrance buyers who gravitate toward sweet, fruity profiles that feel both modern and nostalgic.
