    Patrice Martin

Patrice Martin grew up in the fragrant streets of Grasse, where his grandparents blended essential oils for local clients. After two years of business studies, he enrolled at the Roure Perfumery School in 1976, swapping spreadsheets for scent notebooks. The young apprentice joined the Roure laboratory in the mid‑1980s, where he spent fifteen years mastering the chemistry of natural absolutes and the art of composition. In 2000 he began consulting for the luxury houses of Richemont, and two years later he accepted the role of artistic director, guiding fragrance programs for several high‑end brands. The experience sharpened his sense of narrative and precision. In 2018 he launched the eponymous Patrice Martin label, declaring the brand a canvas for his lifelong love of balance, texture and memory. His debut fragrance combined floral, fruity, woody, powdery, amber, leather and balsamic notes in a single bottle, announcing a voice that respects tradition while daring to rewrite it.

    The signature

    How Patrice composes

Patrice builds his formulas around a core of natural absolutes, often sourcing rare flowers from Grasse and exotic woods from the Far East. He layers ingredients in three stages: a clear opening, a textured heart, and a lingering base that evolves on skin. His signatures include the juxtaposition of bright fruit with smoky leather, the use of powdery iris to soften woody accords, and the occasional splash of balsamic resin to add depth. He favors slow evaporation techniques, allowing each note to breathe before the next emerges, and he tests every batch on his own skin to ensure balance.

    Philosophy

    What drives Patrice

Patrice treats scent as a conversation between the wearer and the moment. He believes a perfume must anchor a memory while inviting the imagination to wander. For him, the creative spark ignites when a single raw material reveals its hidden character, prompting a dialogue with other ingredients. He pursues harmony without sacrificing contrast, letting bright citrus coexist with deep amber or soft leather with whispering florals. The goal is to craft a scent that feels both intimate and universal, a quiet confidence that reveals itself over hours.
