    Michele Marin

Michele Marin grew up in the shadow of Venice’s canals, where the scent of salt water and incense lingered in every courtyard. He entered the perfume world as an apprentice in Milan, learning the chemistry of essential oils under seasoned artisans. By 2008 he earned his first commission for a boutique label, proving he could translate memory into scent. In 2011 he launched his own studio in Paris, a modest lab that let him work without constraints. The move sparked a series of collaborations with niche houses such as Anima Mundi, Exteta and Francesca Dell’Oro. His work on Animal Café (2022) and Else earned him two finalist spots at The Art and Olfaction Awards, cementing his reputation as a storyteller who lets fragrance speak for the heart. Today he balances independent projects with select brand partnerships, always aiming to turn fleeting feelings into lasting aromas.

    The signature

    How Michele composes

Michele favors a hand‑crafted approach, blending natural absolutes with a few synthetics that add depth. He often starts with a base of amber, labdanum or vetiver, then layers fruit or spice to create contrast. His signatures include a bright citrus opening that quickly yields to a warm, slightly boozy heart, followed by a lingering, resinous dry‑down. He works in small batches, allowing each ingredient to reveal its true character before committing to the final composition. The result feels intimate, as if the perfume were whispered directly into the wearer’s skin.

    Philosophy

    What drives Michele

Michele believes that fragrance should act as a bridge between the present moment and a hidden recollection. He listens to the quiet pulse of an emotion, then extracts its color, texture and rhythm. Each bottle becomes a personal diary, a place where a single note can recall a childhood kitchen or a distant sunrise. He avoids trends, preferring instead to follow the instinct that tells him which accord will best echo a feeling. For him, the creative spark ignites when a scent feels honest enough to stand alone, without needing a story to justify it.
