    Dmitry Bortnikoff

Dmitry Bortnikoff grew up sketching in Moscow’s art schools before enrolling at the Moscow Architectural Institute. The discipline of line and form taught him patience, but a secret fascination with scent lingered from childhood. While his classmates drafted buildings, Dmitry experimented with essential oils in a modest studio, translating spatial concepts into aromatic structures. In 2013 he co‑founded Feel‑Oud, a boutique that blended his architectural eye with a growing command of raw materials. The venture gave him a platform to launch his own house, Bortnikoff, where he curates each bottle as a private gallery. Over the past decade he has built a modest yet devoted following, offering scents he would wear himself and that echo the balance of structure and spontaneity that defines his dual career.

    How Dmitry composes

In the lab Dmitry favors a restrained palette. He builds around a clear heart, often anchoring compositions with oud, amber, or fine musk, then sketches supporting notes of citrus, spice, or green foliage. His technique leans on precise layering, letting each ingredient settle before adding the next, a method reminiscent of constructing a building floor by floor. He prefers natural extracts that retain their original character, pairing them with select synthetics to add depth without sacrificing authenticity. The result is a line of fragrances that feel both timeless and unmistakably personal.

    Philosophy

    What drives Dmitry

Dmitry treats fragrance as an extension of architecture: a composition of pillars, arches, and negative space. He believes a perfume must honor the wearer’s skin as a canvas, allowing the scent to evolve rather than dominate. His work respects tradition while probing the limits of modern raw materials, seeking moments where a single accord can evoke memory without overwhelming the senses. The drive behind each creation is simple—craft a scent that feels as natural as breathing, yet as intentional as a well‑drawn blueprint.
