The Nomad Profumo collection is exactly what it sounds like, a travel diary in scent form. Peru is the latest dispatch, inspired by the country's dramatic geography: from the humid Amazon Rainforest to the high-altitude Inca Trail, from coastal cities to mountain ruins. The 2023 release translates that range into a composition that moves from sharp forest notes through smoky warmth to a sweet balsamic base.

The combination of smoke and strawberry jam is unusual, it's the kind of pairing that shouldn't work. Smoke usually demands severity, austerity. Jam suggests something soft, almost childish. Here they balance each other: the smoke keeps the sweetness from cloying, the jam keeps the smoke from reading as ashtray. Peru Balsam does the heavy lifting in the base, bringing a warm, slightly vanillic sweetness that distinguishes it from European balsams.

The opening hits with fir and pine, a forest signal, sharp and green. Within minutes, smoke threads through the conifers like a campfire a hundred meters away. The strawberry jam gradually sweetens the smoke, like someone added fruit to a wood fire. By the heart phase, Peru Balsam begins its slow rise, adding warm, resinous quality that shifts the fragrance from forest campfire to something with more presence.
