The Beginning
Teahouse Memoirs was born from Ghawali's desire to translate the ritual of Arabian tea gatherings into scent. Launched in 2025, the perfume captures the moment when steam curls from a freshly brewed pot, inviting friends to linger over conversation. The name evokes those quiet afternoons spent in a sun-lit courtyard, where the aroma of black tea mingles with the scent of blooming roses and violets, a nod to the region's love of floral gardens.
Unlike many of Ghawali's oud-centric releases, this scent leans on a tea-leaf accord, rare in Gulf perfumery. The perfumer layered bitter black-tea with a powdery violet-rose heart, then anchored the drydown with leather, sandalwood, vanilla and musk to echo warm wooden tables where tea is served. The contrast between austere tea and soft leather creates a paradox that feels both formal and intimate.
The Evolution
At first spray, the scent announces itself with a sharp, almost dry black-tea note that feels like the first sip of a strong brew, bright, slightly astringent, and undeniably present for the first ten minutes. As the tea settles, a floral heart of violet and rose glides in, adding a powdery sweetness that softens the edge while still retaining a crisp green quality. Around the half-hour mark, the base emerges: supple leather rolls in, supported by creamy sandalwood, sweet vanilla and a clean musk, giving the composition depth and warmth. The leather does not dominate; it whispers beneath the wood, allowing the tea-green facet to linger. The drydown stretches for eight to ten hours, leaving a subtle, comforting trail that feels like the lingering aroma of a tea-laden table after guests have departed.
Cultural Impact
Wearers often describe the fragrance as a bridge between traditional tea rituals and modern perfumery, noting its appeal among tea enthusiasts and collectors seeking a refined, gender‑fluid scent that feels both ceremonial and everyday. Its subtle nod to historic tea ceremonies resonates with cultural connoisseurs, adding depth to its contemporary allure.

The scent feels like a quiet tea ceremony set to a mellow, late-night jazz groove, soft piano, subtle vinyl crackle, and a steady bass that mirrors the leather's warm undercurrent.
