Penumbra Fever emerged from Karakash’s 2023 Gold Collection, a collaboration between the Turkish house and perfumer Amandine Galliano. Inspired by the fleeting half‑light of a penumbra, the fragrance seeks to capture that moment when darkness and glow coexist. Galliano layered oud‑rich amber with a burst of raspberry and rose, then anchored the composition with birch‑smoked incense and saffron, giving the scent its unmistakable edge.

The choice of agarwood as the sole top note sets a bold, smoky tone that few unisex scents dare to lead with. Pairing it with geranium and raspberry creates a surprising freshness that softens the oud’s intensity, while the heart’s rose adds a classic Turkish elegance. The base’s birch and frankincense introduce a dry, resinous finish, and saffron lends a lingering, slightly metallic warmth that evolves subtly over time.

At first, the oud erupts like a dark ember, immediate and assertive, drawing attention within the first minute.
