The House of Zilli traces its origins to Lyon in 1965, when Alain Schimel established the brand as a purveyor of luxury menswear. Lyon held particular significance for the venture, given the city's historic ties to silk production and textile craftsmanship. Schimel directed the house toward elevated sportswear, eventually developing the leather jackets that became a signature offering. The brand's growth within European menswear provided a foundation of material expertise, particularly in working with supple leathers and refined fabrics. The expansion into fragrance followed later, formalized through a partnership with Création Beauté International, a Paris-based company specializing in beauty and perfume development. This arrangement allowed Zilli to apply its sensibility for quality materials to an entirely new medium. The house maintained its Lyon identity while pursuing international distribution, positioning itself for clients seeking refined products outside mainstream luxury channels. The fragrance line launched with collections that echoed the house's textile heritage, incorporating notes of cashmere, leather, and complementary wood tones. Each release built upon the menswear foundation while establishing independent creative territory for the perfume collection.
