Cosmic Woods is a fragrance from Xyrena, released in 2019 and composed by Killian Wells. The fragrance draws on the green, resinous world of conifers, evoking environments where the line between natural and constructed feels blurred. There's a sensibility here that resists the obvious moves. No overt sweetness, no heavy smoke designed to telegraph "magic." Instead, the composition leans into what evergreens actually smell like in the cold: sharp, clean, slightly bitter, alive. Wells built the fragrance around cool camphor and fir needle, letting those notes carry the atmospheric weight. The result is something that reads as forest rather than forest-themed, a scent that takes its green backbone seriously.
The note structure sets up a careful green-cool-warm dialogue. Camphor and fir needle (alongside hemlock fir) provide the cooling foundation, while clove adds a faint peppery warmth without tipping into spice-cabinet territory.
