A house, in its own words
Velvétail is a 2025 launch, which makes it one of the newer entries in Thailand's independent perfumery scene. The brand is composed by Tada Archawong, called Shun, who had already established himself as the creative force behind two other Thai fragrance houses: Tada Parfumeur and Shaman. Velvétail represents his third venture and his first to center entirely on animals as creative subjects, pulling him into a niche adjacent to the pet-inspired fragrance movement. Coverage of the debut surfaced in 2025 from niche fragrance reviewers and pet-focused lifestyle publications, with the official Velvetail Perfumes Instagram account serving as the brand's primary channel for launch announcements. As a young house, Velvétail's history is short, but its placement within Thailand's expanding niche perfumery community, alongside independent Thai houses like D.S. & Durga's Bangkok-adjacent presence and Parfums Dusita, situates it within a broader regional shift toward original, locally composed scents. At its core, Velvétail is built around the emotional bond between humans and their animal companions, a premise the brand states directly. Rather than building perfumes around moods, geography, or abstract concepts, the house translates the temperaments of specific breeds into olfactory language: the steady warmth of a Golden Retriever, the quiet dignity of a Maine Coon, the sleek reserve of a Greyhound. This animal-first framework asks wearers to engage with scent as a form of characterization, an invitation to wear a personality rather than a place. The philosophy also extends into philanthropy. Independent coverage notes that the founder perfumer donates a portion of proceeds to animal welfare causes, aligning the house's creative concept with a tangible commitment to the creatures that inspire it. The result is a brand where every fragrance carries a clear point of view, and where the concept, the bottle, and the charitable intent all point back to the same subject.
