The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Marshmallow Vanilla arrived in 2022 from The Dua Brand, part of the house's Inspired Expression line. The concept was direct: an inspired recreation of the classic scent Serendipitous by Serendipity 3, translated into something the brand's audience could wear daily. A marshmallow-adjacent gourmand sits comfortably in that wheelhouse, the kind of profile that rewards close attention rather than demanding airspace. The composition keeps the architecture deliberately simple, three notes working in tandem, with Tahitian vanilla anchoring the build rather than a more common selection. The result is a scent that reads creamy and floral where it could have read sharp or synthetic, a quiet piece of construction that lets each ingredient pull its weight without overcrowding the frame.
Tahitian vanilla carries an aromatic fingerprint that sets it apart from what most people picture when they hear the word vanilla. Floral notes ripple through the sweetness, and there's a soft, almost anisic shadow that keeps the accord from tipping into dessert territory. Pairing that character with blood orange lifts the entire composition, the citrus slicing through the cream and giving the skin something brighter to hold onto. Without that contrast the vanilla would collapse into something cloying, but the orange keeps the air moving.
The evolution
The opening moves fast, the blood orange announcing itself with a juicy, almost candied snap within the first ten minutes. Then the Tahitian vanilla starts pooling underneath, pulling the citrus into something rounder, softer, like marmalade left to cool. The cocoa shows up around the twenty to thirty minute mark, and this is where the scent earns its gourmand label, settling into a milky-cocoa haze that reads more like drinking chocolate than candy. The shift from bright citrus to soft cocoa is the whole story. What surprises is how the vanilla outlasts everything. Even at the four-hour mark, a gentle vanillic warmth still clings to the pulse points, and the drydown on fabric the next morning smells faintly of cocoa dust and clean skin.
Cultural impact
Marshmallow Vanilla slots into the brand's Inspired Expression collection as one of the more confectionery-pitched options in the lineup. The composition stakes its claim on a vanilla-forward profile dressed with bright citrus and a dusting of cocoa, a combination that leans playful rather than sultry. As a newer addition, ratings have yet to accumulate, but the scent's profile positions it as an accessible entry point for anyone curious about gourmand fragrances without venturing into the heavier, more resinous territory that often dominates the category.
