Heritage
A house, in its own words
The Beautiful Mind Series emerged from Geza Schoen's established reputation in contemporary perfumery. Schoen first gained widespread recognition as the creator of Molecule 01 in 2006, a fragrance that introduced the concept of single-molecule scent composition to a mass audience and fundamentally shifted how consumers approached fragrance. Based in London, Schoen developed The Beautiful Mind Series as a separate creative outlet that explored themes beyond his Escentric Molecules work. The series reportedly launched in 2009, with the first fragrance, Volume I Intelligence & Fantasy, arriving in 2010. Schoen intended the collection as a tribute to women's intellectual and creative achievements, a theme that runs through each subsequent release. The brand maintains a deliberate small-batch approach, releasing new volumes periodically rather than following traditional fragrance industry launch schedules. This measured pace reflects Schoen's preference for considered creation over commercial volume, allowing each fragrance to develop its own identity within the broader series.
The Beautiful Mind Series operates from a conviction that intelligence and creativity deserve celebration through scent. Rather than designing fragrances around romantic or escapist themes common in perfumery, Schoen chose to honor specific cognitive qualities that he associates with remarkable women. The series name itself signals this intent, positioning intelligence as something beautiful and worthy of artistic expression. Each volume in the collection represents a different mental attribute, allowing wearers to select fragrances that resonate with their own strengths or aspirations. Schoen has described the series as a recontextualization of what fragrance can communicate, moving beyond mere pleasantness to convey abstract concepts. The approach treats wearers as intellectual beings capable of appreciating nuance and complexity. This philosophy distinguishes the brand from both mainstream commercial fragrances and many niche houses, offering a distinctly cerebral alternative in the fragrance landscape.
