The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sunny Bettina joined Rosadoor's debut catalog in 2023, marking the house's first entry into fragrance. This composition takes lavender, a note most people associate with cologne freshness or herbal sharpness, and sends it somewhere entirely different. The name suggests brightness, warmth, a person rather than a place. There's an intimacy built into it, as if the fragrance is addressing someone specific rather than projecting to a room. The opening reads cool and aromatic on first spray, the lavender carrying a clean, slightly medicinal clarity that feels closer to a freshly cut herb garden than to a soapy aftershave.
The structural choice here matters. Lavender sits in the opening, but the heart is myrrh, a resin with ancient associations and a dense, slightly bitter warmth. Then the base goes fully gourmand with tonka bean, vanilla, and almond, three materials that read dessert-adjacent. Pulling myrrh between lavender's herbal clarity and that sweet base creates a bridge that keeps the composition from becoming a simple aromatics-to-gourmand arc. The myrrh adds gravity and a faintly liturgical undertone that keeps the sweetness honest.
The evolution
Lavender leads the way early on, herbaceous and bright, almost like stepping into a garden before the heat sets in. Then myrrh arrives, and the composition shifts. The lavender doesn't disappear, but it gets absorbed into something warmer and more resinous, losing its edge and gaining depth. The tonka bean and vanilla settle in fully as the hours unfold, and the almond adds a soft, marzipan-like sweetness that rounds out the sharpness. The fragrance stays close to skin for much of its run, a warm, golden presence rather than a projection, drifting outward only when the wearer moves or when the air is cool enough to carry it. The almond note in particular softens the edges of the vanilla, keeping it from veering into pure sugar.
Cultural impact
Sunny Bettina arrived in 2023 as part of Rosadoor's debut catalog, introducing the young house to fragrance audiences with a composition built around lavender, myrrh, tonka, vanilla, and almond. The combination reads as a study in contrasts, the herbal clarity of lavender meeting the dense, resinous gravity of myrrh, which then gives way to a soft, almond-tinged sweetness in the base. The fragrance holds an intimate register throughout, preferring warmth and closeness over wide sillage.
