Heritage
A house, in its own words
Pedro del Hierro, the designer, was born on October 3, 1948, in Spain. He founded his eponymous clothing brand in 1974, building a reputation through bold tailoring and a confident approach to women's and men's wear during Spain's transition from the Franco era into a more open cultural period. In 1989, the brand entered into an arrangement with Cortefiel, the Spanish retail group, becoming exclusively part of its portfolio. By 1992, Pedro del Hierro was fully owned by the Cortefiel group, now known as Tendam, one of the largest fashion retailers in Europe with chains including Cortefiel and Springfield. The designer himself passed away on April 3, 2015, in Madrid. Despite the loss of its founder, the house continued to operate as a flagship label within Tendam's portfolio. Fragrance became a natural extension of the fashion identity: the first Pedro Del Hierro perfume appeared in 2003, followed by a men's edition in 2015, an Eau Fraîche in 2016, Intense and Le Parfum editions in 2017, and a pair of women's scents, Neroli and Peonia, in 2018. The fragrance line has been shaped in collaboration with perfumers including Jérôme di Marino and others working within the wider Spanish and European fragrance supply chain. Pedro Del Hierro approaches fragrance the way the fashion house approaches clothing: with an emphasis on structure, wearability, and a distinctly Spanish sensibility. The house favors compositions that translate easily into daily life rather than spectacle pieces designed for display. Each release aims to extend the ready-to-wear wardrobe into scent, treating fragrance as a finishing element rather than a separate luxury exercise. The result is a lineup that prizes clarity of idea over layered complexity, with each bottle carrying a defined point of view that mirrors the tailored confidence the brand built in fashion.
