The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Michele Marin called the concept 'a question of Factory', and if you know your art history, that lands immediately. Warhol's Factory. The late-60s studio where art, music, performance, and provocation blurred into something new. HOP ON! as a title isn't subtle, and it doesn't need to be. It's an invitation, a dare, a moment before something changes. Marin built the composition to honor that energy, transparent and voluptuous, a creative atmosphere you could step into and leave changed. Released in 2025, it arrived in the collection alongside traDire Extrait de Parfum, each scent its own distinct narrative, Hop On! standing apart as the more playful, openly transgressive entry.
The structural choice here is the lactonic axis: banana, milk, peach. These three materials create a creamy-fruity core that reads almost edible, rare in serious perfumery, where tropical notes tend toward decoration rather than dominance. Marin anchors this sweetness with leather and vetiver, materials that pull against the softness. The black pepper and nutmeg add warmth without spice-load. Honey and amber in the base ensure the drydown doesn't fade quietly. Every decision serves the tropical-cream tension.
The evolution
The banana opens bright and unapologetic, a green banana at first, then riper, juicier, the banana leaf adding a green mineral edge that keeps it from going full dessert. Within minutes the milk arrives, rounding the fruit into something smoother, peach joining the lactonic swell. The first hour is pure tropical cream, banana milkshake, almost. Black pepper and nutmeg build quietly underneath, warming the sweetness. Vetiver emerges around the second hour, its mineral-earth character pulling the composition back from pure comfort. The leather accord shows itself here too, soft and worn rather than sharp. By hour three, the drydown settles into vetiver and amber, honey lending warmth, the leather now the dominant tactile note. This phase lasts, several more hours on most skin. The next morning, amber and a faint vetiver trace remain, intimate and close.
Cultural impact
Part of Michele Marin Essenza's 2025 collection alongside traDire Extrait de Parfum, Hop On! represents the house's more playful direction within an already intimate catalog. The Warhol Factory reference signals ambition without pretension, a fragrance that wears its art-world influences openly rather than hiding them behind industry convention. For wearers seeking something genuinely off-piste from standard niche fare, this one is worth the detour.
