A house, in its own words
L'UNPERFECT was founded by Célia Pinheiro, who grew up immersed in the fragrance industry, and Américo Pinheiro, whose career included creative roles at some of the most storied names in European perfumery. Américo's path through houses such as Guerlain, Loewe, Acqua di Parma, Kenzo, Fendi, and Pucci gave him firsthand exposure to how large maisons develop scent, and he has described that period as a preparatory chapter rather than a final destination. Together, the couple founded L'UNPERFECT with the intention of building a house that reflects their own point of view, one shaped by years of watching how fragrance is conceived, composed, and brought to market. The brand emerged publicly in 2024, when its first four fragrances, Never End, Midsummer Dream, Handsome Green, and Charming Lover, were introduced as a cohesive debut statement. From the outset, the founders framed the house as a return to something personal, a project shaped by accumulated experience rather than institutional momentum. The brand's identity draws on this lineage of training while deliberately stepping outside the conventions of the legacy houses where Américo previously worked. The name L'UNPERFECT is itself the philosophy. The brand holds that beauty is not synonymous with flawlessness, and that what is often dismissed as a flaw, a memory, a trace of time, is in fact where character lives. Co-founder Célia Pinheiro has spoken of dust, time, and fragrance as the raw materials of the house, treating aging and patina as creative inputs rather than problems to correct. This worldview shapes both how the compositions are built and how the brand presents them: as sensory journeys, captured moments, and quiet acts of memory rather than aspirational luxury objects. The founders describe their work as conscious perfumery, a practice attentive to intention, to the story a scent carries, and to the emotional texture it leaves behind. Rather than chasing perfection, the house embraces asymmetry, wear, and the slow unfolding of a fragrance on skin as part of its artistic language.
