Heritage
A house, in its own words
Kylie Jenner launched her beauty brand as Lip Kit by Kylie in 2015, initially focusing on the matching lipstick-liner sets that built her early beauty reputation. The company rebranded as Kylie Cosmetics in 2016 and grew rapidly through direct-to-consumer sales and social media marketing, with Jenner leveraging her enormous following to build buzz around each product launch. In 2019, beauty conglomerate Coty acquired a 51% stake in the company, bringing additional resources and distribution power. Prior to entering fragrance independently, Jenner had collaborated with her sister Kim Kardashian on a scent under the KKW Fragrance umbrella in 2019—her only previous fragrance experience. Kylie Cosmetics expanded into color cosmetics beyond lips over the years, and in January 2024 launched its first foundation, the Power Plush Longwear Foundation, before announcing the brand's debut fragrance later that same year. The fragrance category represents a natural extension of the lifestyle brand, translating Jenner's beauty expertise into a new sensory dimension. Kylie Cosmetics approaches fragrance as an extension of its broader beauty philosophy: signature moments over seasonal novelty. Each scent is designed to feel addictive and personal, becoming part of a wearer's identity rather than a passing trend. The brand builds olfactory families around key pillars—vanilla, amber, floral warmth—allowing fans to collect within a cohesive universe. Fragrance announcements function as cultural events, generating massive media impact through social-first reveals. The goal is accessibility wrapped in aspiration: luxury sensory experiences at attainable price points, paired with the celebrity cachet that has defined the brand since its founding. Scents like Cosmic aim for universal appeal with warm, sweet profiles, while flankers like Cosmic Intense offer intensity for those seeking more depth.
