The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Inspired by the Italian Riviera, Citrus Coast translates sunlit coastal beauty into fragrance. Jean-Louis Sieuzac designed it around a single contrast: effervescent citrus and deeper aromatic-woody notes. The bright top, the aromatic heart, the grounded base: each layer earns its place in the composition. The citrus burst hits first, alive with sparkling lemon and bergamot that feel like morning light on water. As the top settles, the aromatic heart opens, revealing juniper's clean, slightly piney character that adds depth without heaviness. The base grounds everything, with patchouli's earthiness and amberwood's warm, resinous quality creating a finish that lingers close to the skin, evolving slowly over several hours.
Citrus, juniper, patchouli, pink pepper, grapefruit, tonka bean, and amberwood form the note structure. What makes it interesting is the hand-off. Lemon and bergamot open bright and effervescent, sparkling, like the first sip of limoncello, with grapefruit adding a slightly tart edge. Pink pepper appears almost immediately, not heat, but clean spice that lifts the citrus. Then Balkan juniper arrives and shifts the direction entirely. It's aromatic, clean, a nudge rather than a shove. That juniper phase is the heart of the fragrance: it keeps the composition from reading as sweet or simple.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and sparkling. Lemon and bergamot effervesce on the skin, like the first sip of limoncello, with grapefruit adding a tangy undertone. Pink pepper appears almost immediately, not heat, but clean spice. Around 30 minutes in, Balkan juniper takes over. The citrus sweetness steps back. Aromatic character takes its place. The juniper phase holds its own for a significant stretch, keeping the composition grounded and complex. Patchouli arrives to close the composition, earthy and warm. Tonka bean adds a whisper of sweetness that tempers the earthiness. The drydown holds patchouli and amberwood close to the skin through the afternoon. Moderate sillage means traces of it throughout the day, not a room-filling presence.
Cultural impact
Citrus Coast fits into House of Noya's Acqua Collezione. This collection explores aquatic and coastal themes through fragrance, with Citrus Coast standing as one of its notable expressions. The composition draws on Mediterranean olfactory traditions, translating coastal atmosphere into scent. It appeals to those who seek fragrances with character and a sense of place.
