A house, in its own words
Gio L'Arôme grew out of Georgina Ripollés' career in fragrance and cosmetics communications. She had already built Somens before turning her attention to a gemstone-inspired line, and the nickname 'Gio L'Arôme' stuck: 'Gio' is a shortened form of Georgina, while 'L'Arôme' reflects her longstanding passion for fragrance creation. Influenced by time spent between Barcelona and Paris, Ripollés set out to channel her experience in brand-building into a collection where each perfume carries its own personality, tied to a stone rather than a traditional olfactive family. The first quartet of launches, Zafiro, Topazio, Émeraude, and Ruby, arrived in 2023, marking the brand's formal debut. The creative direction at Gio L'Arôme treats gemstones as narrative anchors. Rather than designing around abstract mood boards or seasonal trends, Ripollés starts with a stone's cultural meaning and lets that story guide the composition. The result is a lineup where each fragrance is meant to evoke a distinct character: the cool clarity associated with sapphire, the warmth tied to topaz, the depth linked to emerald, the intensity suggested by ruby. This approach also keeps the olfactive range tightly focused, with the gemstone theme acting as both a creative constraint and a unifying thread across the catalog.
