The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fernanda launched in 2022 with a premise that didn't need explaining: turn the things people already love into scent. Coffee, yogurt, strawberries, fresh fruit. The everyday made olfactory. Very Coffee sits squarely in that first wave, a fragrance that wears its inspiration on its sleeve, or rather, in its name. No pretense. No metaphor. Just roasted coffee beans, cardamom, and a woody close. Very Coffee is that formula at its most literal. The production was reportedly discontinued, which gives what remains a collector's edge. What the fragrance delivers isn't mystery. It's the warm, grounding sensation of a cup held between both hands on a cold morning, a direct translation of morning ritual into something you wear on skin.
Coffee as a fragrance note is a loaded choice. Too sweet and it becomes dessert, a mocha syrup. Too bitter and it reads like burnt rubber or industrial chic. The trick is roasting level and structure. Very Coffee uses coffee berry at the opening, listed in some databases as roasted coffee beans, then doubles down with a coffee heart note. That layering gives the composition density rather than brightness. Cardamom enters as a listed note in the structure, working alongside the woods rather than floating above them. It warms the composition without becoming a top-bright spicy accent.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to the roasted coffee. It opens dense, almost chewy, like the smell of beans at the moment they release their oils. The coffee top reads as the dark crust of a fresh espresso pull, assertive and unadorned. There's no citrus to brighten it, no vanilla to soften it. Just bean. As the heart unfolds, the coffee note deepens rather than transforms. It loses the roast char and gains body, becoming the warm aroma of coffee that's settled into its cup. The cardamom surfaces here, quiet at first, threading through like a pod dropped into a warm brew. It's warming without being sharp, more suggestion than statement. By the third hour, the woody base takes over. The coffee recedes but doesn't vanish. It becomes a memory of itself, a faint brown hum underneath clean wood. Cardamom lingers longest, a dry spice that stays close to skin.
Cultural impact
Very Coffee fits within a category of straightforward coffee fragrances that prioritize the bean's actual character over dessert-like sweetness. It sits in the same conceptual neighborhood as other coffee-forward scents rather than the gourmand coffee vanillas that dominate mainstream designer releases. For wearers who want coffee without the sugar, it offers an option that has reportedly been discontinued, giving remaining bottles a find-them-while-you-can quality that turns a simple coffee scent into something worth seeking out.
