The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Closer arrived in 2014 as a fragrance released under the name of Emina Jahović, one of the more recognized pop voices in the Balkans. The scent was conceived as a Floral Fruity for women, uncomplicated in structure and built around a thread of tropical sweetness that moves through green wood and into a soft base. The composition opens on passionfruit, moves into pine tree at the heart, and rests on a base of orchid and vanilla. The tropical fruit note gives the opening a bright, almost sparkling lift, while the pine in the middle introduces a resinous coolness that grounds the sweetness before the warmer florals and vanilla take over. The pyramid is short, only four notes total, which keeps the scent readable rather than crowded.
What makes Closer's structure interesting is its restraint. Four notes total, arranged in a simple three-layer pyramid: passionfruit at the top, pine at the heart, orchid and vanilla at the base. The accord profile leans sweet, tropical, fruity, vanilla, floral, and woody, with the pineapple-like brightness of passionfruit giving way to a green, almost sappy middle before the base settles into creamy softness. Pine in the heart of a feminine floral fruity is the unexpected move.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong entirely to passionfruit, tart and bright, almost sharp enough to register as a cool splash rather than a warm fruit. The tropical note hits immediately on skin, with a juicy acidity that feels almost effervescent before it softens. By the one-hour mark the pine asserts itself, and the composition shifts from tropical to something more textured, the sweetness now wrapped in green resin rather than floating free. The pine reads clean and slightly crisp, more like the scent of crushed needles than a heavy wood, and it tempers the fruit without drowning it out. The orchid and vanilla don't arrive so much as settle underneath, and by hour three or four they take over the drydown, softening everything into a powdery, faintly floral warmth that lingers close to skin.
Cultural impact
Closer sits within a collection of celebrity-fronted fragrances where the artist's name carries as much weight as the scent itself. Wearers tend to be drawn to its uncomplicated tropical sweetness and accessible profile, with comparison fragrances in community discussions including Cacharel Amor Amor, Victoria's Secret Bombshell, and Dolce&Gabbana Pour Femme. The scent reads as a straightforward daytime fragrance for younger wearers, the kind of purchase made on familiarity with the artist's image rather than perfumery credentials.
