Why it exists.
The beginning
Francis Kurkdjian created Cuir Bourbon in 2016 as part of Elie Saab's La Des Cuirs collection, a curated exploration of leather in its many forms. Bourbon vanilla entered the composition not as garnish but as foundation, bringing warmth that leather alone can't generate. Saffron provided the intrigue, a slight edge that stops the sweetness from becoming dessert. The result is a leather that feels both commanding and comfortable, present without being heavy.
