Cashmere Aura arrived in 2016 as part of the Donna Karan / DKNY fragrance line, developed and marketed by Estée Lauder Companies. It draws on the feel of cashmere against a woman's skin, an idea that runs through the broader cashmere-themed scents from the brand. The fragrance wraps aldehydes and orange oil around a heart of acacia absolute and ylang-ylang, then grounds everything in musk, vanilla, and an animal-spicy accord. What comes through is a scent that takes its softness seriously, offering warmth without ever tipping into the heavy or the syrupy. There's a tactile quality to it from the first spray, as if the juice itself carries the texture it's named for.
The composition leans into aldehydes at the front, bringing an immediate lift, then folds sweet acacia absolute and ylang-ylang into a powdery heart. The orange oil in the opening adds a citrus brightness that keeps the aldehydes from feeling sharp, softening their brilliance into something gentler on the skin.
