The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vampiren Veil is the house's ode to Transylvanian legend, a scent that opens like a door left ajar in a dim corridor. The perfumer chose strawberry for its unmistakable sweetness, jasmine for its floral softness, and anchored both in the dark depths of black amber and fir resin. These materials ground the composition, pulling the sweetness toward something more substantial and grounded. The initial burst of strawberry hits the nose first, vivid and direct, but it doesn't stay alone for long. Jasmine arrives to soften the edges, adding a gentle floral layer that tempers the fruit without overpowering it. Beneath both, the black amber and fir resin hold everything down, giving the fragrance a dark, resinous foundation that feels like candlelight in an old stone room.
Strawberry arrives first, ripe and vivid, sweet and almost tart on first contact. Saffron gives Vampiren Veil its edge, a warm, slightly medicinal sharpness that cuts through the fruit before the heart opens fully. The heart is where the complexity builds. Caramel and ambroxan create a warm, textured sweetness that sits close to the skin. The saffron continues to thread through, keeping the sweetness from becoming too soft. Black amber in the base provides the grounding element, dark and resinous, warm and enveloping.
The evolution
The opening arrives with strawberry bright and unapologetic, the saffron giving it an edge that most fruity fragrances skip entirely. As the scent develops over the first hour, jasmine spreads through the composition and the caramel takes hold, building a warmth that settles against the skin. The strawberry doesn't disappear; it deepens, becoming something candied and slower. By the second hour, ambroxan surfaces, adding an animalic warmth that clings. The fir resin shows up, dark and resinous, pulling the whole composition toward something almost smoky, grounding the sweetness with something deeper. Then the drydown arrives. Black amber lingers for hours, and a faint trace of strawberry remains on the wrists, sweet and warm against the skin. It's the kind of memory that stays.
Cultural impact
Vampiren Veil arrived as the debut collection launched, a group of gothic fragrances that entered a market saturated with minimalist aesthetics and gender-neutral marketing. The brand positions itself differently, built around dark romanticism and a commitment to atmosphere. The house prioritizes mood over trend, constructing its identity around the macabre and the romantic rather than mainstream appeal. The collection invites discovery for those who seek something outside conventional fragrance categories. Each scent is designed to feel atmospheric, rooted in narrative and mood rather than fleeting fashion.
