Afterglow arrived in 2026 from Pocket of Scents, a house known for roll-on perfume oils rather than spray bottles. The format matters here: oil-based scents sit closer to the skin, unfold slower, and tend to read warmer than their alcohol-based counterparts. That choice shapes everything about how this composition behaves on you. The carrier oil becomes part of the architecture, holding each aromatic molecule in suspension and releasing them in a gradual, intimate cascade rather than a bright burst. The composition itself opens with saffron and jasmine, a pairing that sets a confident first impression. Saffron brings its leathery, faintly metallic character, while jasmine rounds out the sharper edges with a creamy softness underneath.
What makes the structure interesting is the pairing of ambergris with amberwood. Ambergris is oceanic, mineral, almost salty in its best expressions. Amberwood is dry, warm, slightly syrupy. They occupy opposite ends of the spectrum, one pulling toward sea-air and the other toward something drier and more enclosed.
