A house, in its own words
The roots of Arabesque Perfumes trace to 2009, when MBA Perfumes Manufacturing LLC first began producing fragrances under the brand name. The company emerged from a recognition that the regional market, particularly in the UAE, had a deep cultural connection to perfumery but limited options for consumers seeking formulations free from certain synthetic compounds that had become standard in the broader fragrance industry. Rather than positioning itself as a reformulation house, Arabesque simply chose to build its entire catalog around cleaner chemistry from inception. The word Arabesque itself refers to the ornate geometric and floral patterns found throughout Islamic architecture and decorative arts, a visual language the brand subtly evokes through its identity without making explicit cultural claims. Unlike fragrance houses that trace lineages through perfumer families or historical manuscripts, Arabesque represents a more contemporary emergence, built around ingredient philosophy rather than inherited tradition. Arabesque operates from a foundational belief that what a fragrance does not contain matters as much as what it does. The brand's explicit formulation standards eliminate parabens, phthalates, and DPGs from every product they produce, a position that was somewhat distinctive when the company launched in 2009 and has become increasingly relevant as consumer awareness of cosmetic chemistry has grown. The company states it tests on neither animals nor humans during the development process. Rather than positioning these choices as revolutionary or industry-defining, Arabesque presents them as baseline requirements. The cruelty-free positioning extends through their supply chain, with the brand asserting this standard has been maintained since they began perfuming in 2009.
