The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alkemia's collection has always favored the edge where sweetness meets shadow, and Haunted & Bewitched leans harder into that tension than most. The name alone tells you where this lives, between the pull of attraction and the unease of being caught under someone's spell. It's a fragrance for moments that matter, for the hour when a decision gets made. The house leans toward rich, resinous qualities, but this one trades smoke for something softer and stranger: rosewater Turkish delight, star jasmine, and an undercurrent of warm musks that feel almost skin-like. The 'bewitched' part isn't metaphorical. It's the feeling of a scent that works on you whether you want it to or not.
What makes Haunted & Bewitched work is the unlikely marriage of two worlds that don't usually coexist gracefully: the clean, luminous brightness of white florals and the deep, sticky sweetness of bourbon caramels. Most fragrances pick a lane. This one builds a road between them. The rosewater Turkish delight is the bridge. It's floral and edible at the same time, perfumers have been chasing that dual identity for decades. Here it functions as a transitional note, softening the jump from jasmine's brightness to caramel's richness. Pink pepper shows up in small enough quantities to add a subtle spice without announcing itself. It reads more as warmth than heat.
The evolution
Haunted & Bewitched opens on jasmine, bright and clean, with the pink pepper lifting it just slightly above ordinary white florals. The Egyptian white amber reads as a warm glow beneath the blossoms, not resinous, not heavy. Just warmth waiting to be noticed. Then the rosewater arrives. It's the turning point. Suddenly the jasmine becomes something else entirely, floral and edible at once, like a memory of Turkish delight rather than the candy itself. The caramel enters quietly behind it, not pushing the jasmine out but settling underneath, adding body and sweetness that the florals alone couldn't carry. As the florals begin to recede, the bourbon vanilla and patchouli take over. The vanilla is warm and slightly boozy, the 'bourbon' in the ingredient list actually reads in the final drydown.
Cultural impact
Haunted & Bewitched represents a distinctive approach to fragrance composition. Egyptian white amber serves as a bridge between delicate florals and richer oriental notes. Jasmine and rosewater create a botanical pairing, while warm amber and caramel provide subtle sweetness. As the fragrance develops, vanilla and patchouli introduce depth and a slightly boozy quality that settles into the skin. The note interactions reveal how each element contributes to the whole, creating a layered experience that rewards attention.
