Lucien Ferrero
Lucien Ferrero was born in Grasse in 1946, surrounded by the lavender fields and jasmine gardens that have shaped French perfumery for centuries. He began his career at Givaudan Group, the Swiss fragrance giant, before joining Lautier Florasynth. These formative years gave him a rigorous technical education in the art of composition. Working in Grasse brought him alongside Jean-Claude Ellena, and the two developed a professional kinship that would span decades. Throughout his 46-year career at Expressions Parfumées, Ferrero created over 50,000 fragrance compositions, though he is perhaps best known for Bogart, a masculine icon that defined a generation. In his later years, he launched his own venture, Anthologie, allowing him to work with complete creative freedom. Now semi-retired but still based in the region where he was born, Ferrero remains a quiet pillar of Grasse's perfumery tradition.

How Lucien composes
His style is marked by structural precision and elegant restraint. Ferrero favors clean, well-constructed compositions where each note has room to breathe. He has a particular affinity for natural materials, using quality absolutes and essential oils as the backbone of his work. Across five decades and more than 50,000 formulas, he has demonstrated remarkable range, from timeless masculine signatures to refined feminine compositions. His aesthetic leans toward sophistication and quiet luxury rather than spectacle.
Philosophy
What drives Lucien
Ferrero approaches perfumery as both discipline and devotion. He believes the craft demands patience, study, and an almost meditative attention to raw materials. Rather than chase trends, he focuses on balance and longevity, creating fragrances that feel timeless rather than fashionable. His work reflects a deep respect for the materials themselves and the traditions of French perfumery, balanced with an openness to modern techniques.
