    Jacqueline Ella Steele

Jacqueline Ella Steele grew up in Los Angeles surrounded by physicians. Her parents’ scientific rigor shaped her early curiosity, leading her to enroll in a neuroscience program at Occidental College. Halfway through the semester, she felt a pull toward scent, swapping lab benches for a perfumer’s bench. She completed an apprenticeship at Goest Perfumes, where she learned the language of raw materials from seasoned noses. By 2020 she earned her first commission, crafting a limited-edition scent for a boutique art gallery. Today she balances studio work with collaborations that explore the intersection of memory and chemistry. Her network of 130+ industry contacts reflects a reputation built on precision, honesty, and a willingness to experiment beyond conventional formulas.

    How Jacqueline composes

Jacqueline favors a transparent approach to structure. She builds a scent around a clear focal point - often a single flower or a mineral note - then layers supporting accords that reinforce rather than mask the core. She prefers natural absolutes such as Bulgarian rose, Tunisian orange blossom, and Madagascan vanilla, but she does not shy away from high-quality synthetics that add precision. Her technique includes micro-dosing, allowing a whisper of a material to emerge over time. She often finishes a blend with a subtle fixative that extends the scent’s presence without overwhelming the initial impression.

    What drives Jacqueline

Jacqueline treats each formula as a dialogue between science and feeling. She believes that scent can translate a fleeting emotion into a tangible trace. Her process begins with a question: what memory does a particular moment leave on the skin? She then gathers botanicals, synthetics, and rare extracts that answer that question. She respects the chemistry of each ingredient, allowing it to reveal its own character before blending. The resulting composition aims to anchor an intimate feeling in the air, inviting the wearer to pause and notice the subtle shift in mood. Curiosity, honesty, and a respect for material drive her creative decisions.
