Angela Ciampagna
Angela Ciampagna grew up in Atri, a modest hill town where her family distilled essential oils for generations. She spent her teens watching the amber-colored vapors rise from copper stills, learning the chemistry of scent before she ever opened a notebook. After completing a formal chemistry program, she entered the fragrance industry as a ghost nose, crafting private commissions for luxury houses across Europe. Those years taught her how to translate a client’s memory into a bottle without ever seeing the final label. In 2010 she turned the family workshop into the brand Angela Ciampagna Alta Profumeria Artigianale, relocating the studio to Tenerife to combine Mediterranean botanicals with the island’s unique climate. She steers every step of production in the Label Laboratorio Artigianale, from raw-material selection to hand-filled packaging. Her presence at Notes Shanghai Spring 2026 signaled her arrival on the global artistic-perfume stage, and she now mentors emerging noses while expanding the brand’s modest but devoted catalogue.

How Angela composes
Angela’s style blends rigorous laboratory technique with the tactile sensibility of an artisan. She favors natural absolutes, especially Mediterranean herbs, Sicilian citrus, and rare woods harvested from responsibly managed forests. Her signature technique involves extended maceration in stainless steel vats, allowing subtle facets to emerge over weeks. She often finishes a composition with a labdanum-derived fixative that ensures longevity without masking the top notes. The result is a clear, balanced scent that reveals new layers as the skin warms, inviting the wearer to explore rather than dictate.
Philosophy
What drives Angela
Angela believes that perfume should echo the place where it is born. She starts each brief by walking the fields where lavender, rosemary or citrus blossom, letting the wind shape the brief as much as the client’s story. She treats raw ingredients as characters, giving each a clear voice before weaving them together. Sustainability guides every decision; she prefers cold-pressed extracts and supports small growers who practice organic harvesting. For her, the act of blending is a dialogue between science and intuition, a moment where formula meets feeling.
