John-Paul Welton grew up surrounded by the fragrant landscapes of Provence, a region renowned for its lavender fields and aromatic flora. This early immersion in Provençal scents reportedly shaped his understanding of natural fragrance materials from a young age. In 2001, Welton launched his first collection of home fragrances, marking the beginning of his career in scent creation. He subsequently expanded into custom-made home scent products, eventually deciding to apply his expertise to fine perfumery. In 2012, Welton London officially became a House of perfume, releasing its first niche fragrance collection. The transition from home scents to personal fragrance marked a significant evolution in the brand's identity. The first standalone fragrances appeared in 2013, with releases including Singuliere Rose Chypree and Bel Iris. Over the following decade, the house developed a portfolio of distinctive scents, expanding into stronger concentrations like Extrait de Parfum by 2022. The brand maintains its London origins while drawing heavily from Welton's personal connection to French fragrance traditions.
