A house, in its own words
Voyde began life as LabHouse Perfume, a small independent project run by perfumers Macaul Neenan and Miriam Shechet from a studio in Exeter, New Hampshire. The founders chose the rebrand to Voyde as the house matured, signaling a shift from a casual laboratory name to a distinct creative identity. Early releases such as Fallen, Viridescent, and Deity arrived in 2022, followed by a prolific 2023 that introduced Fever Dream, Stellar Bloom, Roxo, and Rustica, all reflecting the founders' commitment to in-house formulation. The house continued expanding through 2024 with Dark Matter and Stranded, and extended its catalog into 2025 with Surge. Covering independent refrigeration at a different house is unrelated to Voyde's own history, which is grounded in the small Exeter studio and the two perfumers who run every stage of the process themselves. The relatively short but focused trajectory shows a house that has chosen originality and direct authorship as its founding principle, rather than scaling through outsourcing or licensing arrangements. Voyde frames itself as the product of obsession with detail, with Neenan and Shechet building each fragrance line by line and drop by drop rather than outsourcing development to external labs. The creative vision centers on producing original, immersive compositions that resist easy categorization, leaning into a unisex approach that treats scent as an experience rather than a gendered product. Both founders have spoken about valuing creative freedom over commercial pressure, which allows them to pursue unusual material combinations and thematic concepts such as Dark Matter and Fever Dream without compromise. The house also emphasizes accessibility within the niche category, focusing on distinctive scents that perform well on skin rather than positioning itself as an exclusive or unattainable luxury label. At its core, Voyde's philosophy is straightforward: two perfumers, full creative control, and a refusal to separate the artistic and technical sides of composition.
