A house, in its own words
Stephane Humbert Lucas established his eponymous house in 2012, bringing with him years of experience as the nose behind Nez a Nez and SoOud. Born in Paris, he discovered his dual passion for art and perfumery at a young age, viewing scent as another medium for creative expression alongside poetry and painting. His first collection emerged from a fascination with Middle Eastern aromatic culture, remarkable given that he had never visited the region before creating his debut oud fragrance. This initial collection revealed his love for rich, luxurious materials and set the tone for everything that followed. The house operates as Les Editions, with La Collection 777 serving as the signature range. While still relatively young compared to historic French houses, the brand has built a devoted following among niche fragrance collectors who appreciate its theatrical, painterly approach to composition. Humbert Lucas approaches fragrance as high art, viewing each composition as a canvas where emotions and memories can be painted in scent. His creative process taps into synesthesia, the phenomenon where senses intertwine, allowing him to translate visual and poetic impressions into olfactory experiences. Middle Eastern aromatic traditions serve as his primary inspiration, yet he filters them through a distinctly French sensibility, creating scents that feel both exotic and refined. The house is known for intensely concentrated eau de parfum formulations that make bold statements. Rather than following trends, Humbert Lucas creates from pure artistic impulse, composing fragrances that are dramatic, luxurious, and unapologetically theatrical. His work invites wearers to experience perfume as more than a pleasant aroma, but as an immersive artistic encounter.
