Heritage
A house, in its own words
Esprit Provence emerged from the long tradition of perfume making in the Provençal region, where lavender, verbena and citrus have been cultivated for centuries. The brand’s founders, a small collective of artisans, chose to honor that legacy by committing to entirely natural formulations. Early on they partnered with growers in the hills around Grasse, ensuring that every botanical arrived fresh and sustainably harvested. By the mid‑2010s the label had expanded its catalogue beyond classic lavender, adding cherry blossom, white jasmine and cedar to reflect the diversity of the Provençal flora. A pivotal moment arrived when the Martigues tourism board highlighted Esprit Provence’s verbena home fragrance as a quintessentially French scent, reinforcing the house’s reputation for authentic, place‑based perfume. Today the brand remains independent, with production still anchored in the same workshops that first turned wild herbs into aromatic oils, and it continues to celebrate the region’s perfume heritage while navigating modern consumer expectations for transparency and ecological responsibility. The house views fragrance as a direct translation of place into scent. Esprit Provence believes that a perfume should be instantly recognizable as a piece of the landscape that inspired it, without relying on synthetic shortcuts. This conviction drives a minimalist approach: each composition centers on one or two key ingredients, allowing the natural character of the raw material to shine. The brand also embraces a philosophy of stewardship, sourcing only from farms that practice organic cultivation and fair trade. By limiting the ingredient list, Esprit Provence aims to create scents that are both pure and memorable, offering a sensory shortcut to the Provençal countryside for anyone who wears them.
