A house, in its own words
The brand takes its name and its concept directly from the Arabic word qissati, meaning my story, drawn from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's autobiography of the same name. Qissati launched in 2019 with Chapter 01, marking an early release date for a house that would eventually reach four distinct chapters by 2023. The parent label, Scentegy Dubai, operates out of the United Arab Emirates and positioned Qissati as a literary perfume project rather than a conventional scent line, with each release tied to a specific chapter from the memoir. By 2023, the collection had grown to include Chapter 01, Chapter 02, Chapter 03, and Chapter 04, all released in extrait de parfum concentration. The brand's identity is rooted in the cultural landscape of Dubai and the broader Gulf, where fragrance carries deep social and ceremonial weight, tracing back centuries to the Arabian Peninsula's role in the historic incense and oud trade. Qissati operates on the premise that autobiography can be translated into scent, with each chapter of Sheikh Mohammed's memoir forming the narrative spine for a corresponding composition. Rather than market individual top, heart, and base notes in conventional terms, the brand organizes its creative output around life events, personal turning points, and guiding values like resilience and ambition. This book-to-bottle pipeline distinguishes Qissati from fragrance houses that begin with a raw material or an olfactive family and build outward. The choice of extrait de parfum concentration, the richest and longest-lasting format in modern perfumery, suggests an intent to match the gravity of the source material with intensity in wear. The house remains closely tied to Dubai's cultural identity, where storytelling through fragrance carries a tradition stretching back to the Arabian incense routes.
