A house, in its own words
Note di Profumum emerged from the creative partnership of four family members: Giuseppe, Luciano, Maria, and Felice Durante, who established the house together in 1996. The Durante family's decision to enter perfumery reflected both a passion for Italian olfactory traditions and a desire to create something distinct within the niche fragrance landscape. Rome, with its layered history of art, craft, and sensory richness, became the natural home for their endeavor. The brand grew gradually, building a reputation among fragrance enthusiasts who sought alternatives to mainstream designer offerings. Rather than expanding rapidly, Note di Profumum maintained a focused approach, releasing new compositions sporadically rather than adhering to seasonal launch cycles. The house developed a signature style characterized by intensity, longevity, and a certain boldness that distinguished it from more restrained European perfumery. Over the years, the brand has cultivated a devoted following among collectors who appreciate its unapologetic approach to scent. The Durante family has remained involved in the house's operations, ensuring continuity in creative direction. Scents like Fiore d'Ambra, released in 2004, demonstrated the house's ability to balance richness with elegance, earning recognition within niche fragrance communities. The brand's longevity reflects both the quality of its products and the enduring appeal of its distinctly Italian vision. Note di Profumum operates from a conviction that perfume should function as a living memory, capturing specific moments, places, or sensory experiences in liquid form. The house rejects the notion that complexity equals quality, instead championing the mastery required to render a single idea beautifully. This approach demands exceptional raw materials and meticulous execution, as there is nowhere to hide when working with focused, concentrated compositions. The Durante family has described their fragrances as stories waiting to be worn, each one rooted in an Italian concept, ingredient, or cultural reference. The philosophy extends to the act of wearing perfume itself: Note di Profumum creates scents meant to announce presence rather than whisper, appealing to those who view fragrance as an integral part of personal expression. There is an element of boldness in this approach, a refusal to dilute vision for broader appeal. The house works slowly, developing each new fragrance until it accurately conveys its intended emotional territory. Rather than chasing trends, Note di Profumum draws from timeless Italian associations with food, nature, and sensory pleasure. This philosophy has attracted a specific audience: fragrance lovers who prioritize substance over convention and who appreciate perfumes that make statements.
