Heritage
A house, in its own words
The origins of Mystikum trace to 1910, when the original Mystikum perfume was created by Scherk, a traditional perfume house operating in Berlin. Scherk ranked among Germany's notable perfume manufacturers during the early 20th century, producing fragrances that carried the sophistication associated with pre-war European perfumery. The original Mystikum formula survived the decades and eventually became the foundation for a revived brand under new creative direction. Tomáš Ric established the modern incarnation of Mystikum, connecting the historical 1910 creation to the contemporary niche fragrance landscape. The brand takes its name from that century-old perfume while charting a distinctly modern path. Czech artistic traditions, architecture, and contemporary culture serve as primary sources of creative inspiration for each new composition. The roaring 1920s function as a stylistic touchstone, representing an era of bold creativity and artistic flourishing that aligns with the brand's aesthetic vision. Today, the house operates as a German niche brand with international distribution, offering fragrances that bridge historical heritage and present-day innovation.
Tomáš Ric approaches fragrance creation as an act of cultural translation, drawing from Czech artistic traditions, architectural heritage, and contemporary creative life. The brand positions itself in opposition to generic luxury marketing, prioritizing authentic creative expression over trend-driven formulations. Each scent functions as a narrative vessel, referencing cultural history and artistic vision rather than pursuing market demands. The philosophy rejects the notion that luxury must remain static or inaccessible. Instead, Mystikum seeks to create fragrances that carry intellectual and emotional weight, inviting wearers into a dialogue with European artistic heritage. The brand's perspective emphasizes that a fragrance should tell a story, drawing the wearer into a world shaped by specific places, moments, and creative traditions. This commitment to narrative depth distinguishes the house from brands that prioritize mere olfactory novelty or commercial appeal.
