A house, in its own words
Momento Perfumery emerged in the United States in 2020, when a small group of fragrance enthusiasts decided to build a boutique label that could experiment beyond the constraints of mainstream houses. The founders, who had previously worked in niche retail and formulation, aimed to produce scents that felt like personal postcards from distant places. Their first public release arrived in early 2021 with Ambra Imperia, a composition that blended amber resin with subtle spice, followed shortly by Avicenna, Tea Road, Hoi An and Gerrha—all launched within the same year. By keeping production runs small, the brand cultivated a community of collectors who appreciate the rarity of each batch. In 2022 the house opened a modest studio in Los Angeles, where it began to source raw materials directly from growers in Morocco, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. The studio also serves as a testing lab, allowing the team to refine formulas before committing to a limited edition. Throughout 2023 Momento Perfumery partnered with independent glassmakers to redesign its bottle silhouette, emphasizing clean lines and recyclable materials. The brand’s growth has remained steady, with each new launch announced via its website and social channels, inviting followers to explore the narrative behind each fragrance.
Momento Perfumery treats scent as a form of memory. The team believes that a perfume should capture a moment in time and transport the wearer to a specific place or feeling. To that end, the house researches historical trade routes, ancient rituals and regional botanicals before drafting a brief. It then works with a network of freelance perfumers who translate those briefs into olfactory sketches. The brand values transparency, so it publishes ingredient lists and notes the provenance of key raw materials. Sustainability informs its decisions: the house prefers natural extracts harvested with minimal impact and seeks out suppliers who practice fair trade. Rather than chasing trends, Momento Perfumery lets each composition stand on its own, trusting that a well‑crafted narrative will resonate with discerning noses. The house also encourages collectors to keep a fragrance journal, reinforcing the idea that scent is a personal archive.
