Heritage
A house, in its own words
Matin Martin was founded in 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, by a group of fragrance enthusiasts who wanted to bridge the opulent heritage of Arabian perfume with the sleek sensibilities of European lifestyle. Early interviews with the founders describe a shared background in luxury retail and a collective fascination with French perfumery techniques. The inaugural releases, Jameela Eau de Parfum and Lady Roza Eau de Parfum, arrived later that year and were met with attention from niche‑fragrance blogs for their balanced use of tuberose, jasmine and subtle fruit accords. In 2023 the house expanded its portfolio with Santorini and Crown, both of which introduced marine and amber‑gris elements, signaling a willingness to explore beyond traditional oud‑centric themes. The following year, Matin Martin unveiled three flagship launches—Illusion, RAA'D and El Dorado—each highlighting a different facet of the brand’s evolving identity: Illusion emphasized airy citrus, RAA'D explored deep, resinous oud, and El Dorado celebrated a bright, gourmand profile. Throughout its first five years, the brand has maintained a modest but steady presence on social platforms, accumulating a following of over 17 000 on Instagram and securing distribution in boutique perfumeries across the Middle East, Europe and North America. While the company has not disclosed sales figures, its consistent release schedule and growing retail footprint suggest a measured, sustainable growth strategy rooted in creative ambition rather than rapid expansion. The creative vision at Matin Martin rests on three pillars: authenticity, dialogue, and refinement. Authenticity means sourcing ingredients that reflect genuine regional stories—such as Yemeni agarwood or Moroccan rose—while avoiding synthetic shortcuts that could dilute the scent’s cultural resonance. Dialogue refers to the brand’s practice of consulting regional artisans, botanists and historians during the development phase, ensuring each fragrance speaks to both its Arabian roots and its contemporary audience. Refinement is expressed through a disciplined compositional process that favors clarity over clutter; the perfumers aim for a single, unmistakable motif that evolves gracefully on the skin. Values such as sustainability and ethical sourcing are woven into the brand’s ethos: Matin Martin works with certified farms for natural extracts and partners with manufacturers that adhere to ISO‑9001 quality standards. The house also emphasizes joy as a guiding principle, believing that perfume should enhance everyday moments rather than serve solely as a status symbol. This philosophy informs everything from scent selection to marketing language, which avoids hyperbole in favor of straightforward storytelling.
