A house, in its own words
Lussur emerged from Castelvetro di Modena, a small comune in Emilia-Romagna known more for its culinary traditions and hillside vineyards than for perfume. Founder Lucas Chemelli has spoken publicly about building the house to deliver what he describes as an authentic sensory experience rooted in Italian craft. The brand entered the market as a newcomer in the niche category, debuting its initial numbered lineup, L01 through L05, alongside the distinctively labeled CV99. Lussur joined fragrance databases in 2026 with a catalog of eight scents, all released that same year, marking the start of a young house with an unusually focused launch structure. Chemelli has presented Lussur in community discussions on platforms such as Reddit, framing the project as a direct expression of personal creative vision rather than a corporate product line. The Castelvetro origin gives Lussur a geographic identity tied to a specific Italian region, a deliberate grounding in terroir that distinguishes the house from better-known Milanese or Florentine perfume operations. Chemelli has described Lussur's approach as treating perfumery as an invisible poetic language, a way to communicate identity and emotion without words. The house organizes its releases around coded names, L01, L02, and so on, plus the CV99 outlier, suggesting that the creator wants the wearer to assign personal meaning rather than receive a finished narrative from the label. This coded system reflects a philosophy of open interpretation: the scent becomes a starting point, not a conclusion. Chemelli has framed the brand around sensory authenticity, the idea that a fragrance should trigger memory, mood, and association in a direct, unmediated way. The decision to launch from a small Modenese town rather than a fashion capital reinforces this independence from mainstream beauty industry conventions. Lussur's creative direction appears to prioritize emotional resonance and personal identity over trend-driven marketing, positioning each release as a tool for self-expression rather than a status symbol.
