The name tells you everything. "La Nuit", the night. This isn't rose for brunch or a Monday meeting. It's for the hours when things shift. The pairing of Black Rose with Tahitian vanilla orchid absolute is the structural tension here: dark florality against warm, slightly animalic sweetness. It's a love potion, according to Lancôme's own framing. Not a subtle one. The lychee praliné in the base doesn't hide, it sweetens the smoke of frankincense and papyrus, making the drydown feel like something you want to keep breathing in.

The evolution

The opening hits with dark fruit, black rose giving a tart, almost raspberry-like brightness before the sweetness of lychee praliné arrives. That fruity edge settles within the first hour, replaced by the Tahitian vanilla orchid heart. This is where it lives longest: warm, enveloping, slightly sweet without being floral. The vanilla orchid doesn't shout, it radiates. Hours three through six belong to the base. Frankincense and papyrus add a smoky, resinous layer that keeps the praliné from cloying. The sillage shifts from "noticed" to "intimate", close to the skin, present only when someone gets near. On some skin, the praliné accord re-emerges periodically, a sweet pulse against the incense. The longevity is the real story here. Eight to ten hours on most skin types, with the warm vanilla-orchid heart lingering into the drydown.
