Heritage
A house, in its own words
Jesús del Pozo was born in Madrid in 1946 and built his reputation through sharp tailoring and architectural silhouettes that attracted a loyal following in Spain. His first boutique opened in 1974, establishing the fashion house in the capital. The brand quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach to design, blending Spanish sophistication with a modern sensibility. For nearly two decades, J Del Pozo operated primarily as a fashion house, expanding its presence across Spain while developing a distinctive aesthetic characterized by clean lines and restrained elegance. The transition into fragrance came in 1992, when the designer launched his first perfume, Duende, for women. This marked a significant expansion of the brand's creative universe. In 1998, Perfumes y Diseño acquired the fragrance division, founded in Spain to manage and grow the brand's scent portfolio. The fashion house continued operating under del Pozo's direction until 2015, when it ceased womenswear production. The fragrance division, however, has continued under Perfumes y Diseño's stewardship, maintaining the brand's original vision while expanding its reach internationally. The Jesús del Pozo fashion legacy spans more than 40 years, representing one of Spain's most consistent voices in contemporary design. Though the fashion line has closed, the fragrance house carries forward that commitment to craftsmanship and understated luxury. The J Del Pozo approach to fragrance reflects the designer's fashion philosophy: architecture over ornamentation, structure over excess. Each scent emerges from a deliberate creative process focused on proportion, balance, and wearability rather than novelty or shock value. Jesús del Pozo believed that perfume, like clothing, should serve the wearer without overwhelming. This philosophy manifests in fragrances that reward attention without demanding it. The brand creates scents for those who appreciate refined construction and quiet confidence over loud declarations. Spanish sensibility runs through the brand's identity. Del Pozo's designs have always carried a certain Mediterranean intelligence: warmth without heaviness, elegance without pretension. The fragrances translate this sensibility into olfactory form, offering compositions that feel both contemporary and timeless. The brand distinguishes itself through restraint. Rather than chasing trends or following the fragrance industry's frequent inclination toward complexity for its own sake, J Del Pozo develops scents with clear creative direction. Each fragrance has a defined character and purpose, crafted to fulfill a specific vision rather than to maximize ingredient lists.
