The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Crema Pasticciera is Italian pastry cream, the stuff that fills cannoli, layers cakes, and makes Sunday dessert feel like an event. I Matti took that idea and translated it into a fragrance that opens bright with lemon and orange, then settles into something warm and edible. The concept came from the brand's ongoing love affair with Italian culinary culture, where food isn't just sustenance but a language for memory and pleasure. This one was built for the moment after a meal, when the plates are cleared and the sweetness lingers.
Using custard as a heart note is unusual, it's soft, almost translucent in its appeal, and doesn't shout like a citrus top or a vanilla base. The tart citrus opening keeps things interesting for the first thirty minutes, giving the fragrance a brightness that prevents it from feeling flat or one-dimensional. What makes this structure work is the timing: the citrus doesn't disappear, it melts into the cream. Bourbon vanilla then anchors everything in warmth without going heavy. The result is a fragrance that smells like something you'd recognize immediately, even if you've never worked in a pasticceria.
The evolution
The opening hits sharp, lemon and orange zing against the skin like citrus zest. The tartness holds for about thirty minutes, bright and almost astringent. Then the hand-off begins. The citrus softens and the custard rises, bringing a creamy sweetness that coats rather than projects. The sillage becomes intimate, the kind others only catch if you're close. By the third hour, the vanilla takes over completely, wrapping the whole composition in a warm, edible drydown that smells like the inside of a pastry bag. On some skin types, that vanilla base lingers into the next morning, faint, sweet, and quiet. Lasts six to eight hours on most. The bubble it creates is soft, close, and personal.
Cultural impact
Crema Pasticciera lands in a crowded lemon-vanilla space but carves out its own territory with the custard heart, a note that makes the composition feel softer and more intimate than its peers. Wearers describe it as the creamiest in its category, with a sweetness that stays close rather than announcing itself. The fragrance has found an audience among those who want comfort without performance anxiety.
