Using custard as a heart note is unusual, it's soft, almost translucent in its appeal, and doesn't shout like a citrus top or a vanilla base. The tart citrus opening keeps things interesting for the first thirty minutes, giving the fragrance a brightness that prevents it from feeling flat or one-dimensional. What makes this structure work is the timing: the citrus doesn't disappear, it melts into the cream. Bourbon vanilla then anchors everything in warmth without going heavy.
